can i use car batteries in my golf cart?
my friend is giving me a cushman golf cart 36v and i cant afford a charger and 6 batteries so i wanted to know if i can put 3 12v batteries in it instead of 6 6v batteries
would i be able to get 3 12v deep cycle batteries instead of 6 6v deep cycle batteries
Like the person above said. You will absolutely need deep cycle batteries. Car batteries are designed to give power that most deep cycle batteries can never reach, but only for a few seconds to turn the motor over. After that, the alternator does all of the work. Deep cycle batteries are designed to be fully decharged and fully recharged over and over again and can endure hundreds upon hundreds of cycles like that in their lifespan whereas automobile batteries are pretty much kicked once they have been fully decharged.
Car batteries won’t work for your application. You need either batteries designed for a golf cart or some marine batteries. And yes, you will definately need a charger. If it was a gas powered golf cart with an alternator…. it would be a whole different story.
