dot reg on the 15 hr rule?
I drive for a bus company. I was woundering how this works. when i do a run we have a layover so we go off duty. now does the 15 hr rule go from the time you start your day to the end. say i start a 100pm drive intill 600pm go on my layover go off duty then i beg. at 10pm then drive to 200am so that is 13 hrs from the beg or does the dot look at that as 9 hrs.
Ted, the rules didn’t change for bus drivers as it did for truck drivers a few years ago. Dot would look at your example as 9 hours. They would look at it differently if you also drove truck. That is what is going on for me. I drove bus for 13 years then started driving truck. I am still a part time driver for the bus company, but we found out that if I drove bus, I would have to follow the truck hours of service, which doesn’t allow for split logging (the example you gave). So I haven’t driven the bus in 5 years.
