An Overview of the Riviera Maya in Mexico

In the 1970s, we know that the Caribbean coast of Mexico today would be almost unrecognizable, with only a small fishing village and a strange hotel dotted here and there. But in 1974, an agency of the Government of Mexico Tourism development has decided to put a name to this beautiful, and the Riviera Maya was born.

It was followed by a new road parallel to the coast which helped lead to the infrastructure in booming nowadays about 150 hotels in Cancun with over 24,000 rooms and 380 restaurants. This is without taking into account the 37 000 hotel rooms in the Riviera Maya itself, a figure expected to double by 2025.

Thirteen million people pass through the airport in Cancun a year and receives an average of 190 daily flights.

With white sandy beaches, pure sand will work almost continuously for 81 miles (130 km) south of Cancun, the Riviera Maya gives you the luxury real estate, hotels, spas, restaurants, marinas, shops, bars and golf courses and pristine romantic hideaways.

The Riviera Maya is not only in Cancun, and many people find it, south of Cancun Luxury retirement is often more intimate, more space and fewer people than the bustle and lights of Cancun.

The Riviera Maya begins approximately 12 miles (19 kilometers) south of Cancun airport, one of the last coastal fishing villages, Puerto Morelos. The coast is not as impressive as the dazzling white beaches lies more in the region under feet with turtle grass and the turquoise sea as clear, but does Puerto Morelos not be neglected.

It has excellent restaurants, much of the crafts and handicrafts. Add to that the coral second in the world, a dedicated marine reserve, which is less than a mile from the coast. Puerto Morelos is an ideal place to relax after the nightlife of Cancun.

18 miles (30 km) south of Cancun airport on the Gold Coast of the Riviera Maya. Discovered by the exclusive Hotel Maroma, Maroma Beach has perfect white sand and talcum powder calm turquoise water, with a backdrop of jungle.

Keep to the south, you arrive at 593 acres (240 hectares) of development shared by three hotels, embracing a portion of a mile from the coast: Mayakoba. With a fleet of 7000 (6400 m) Greg Norman Signature Golf and a band of mangroves in the lagoon behind the dunes of the beach, the newly built hotel room 128 Rosewood Mayakoba is a beauty to explore.

Further south on Highway 307 is the dynamic range of lively Playa del Carmen. With its pedestrian area dedicated Fifth Avenue, one block from the beach, you have a choice of cosmopolitan shops, markets, local artisans and crafts, multi-cultural restaurants, jewelry, vibrant night life and bars magic.

"Beach" has created beach clubs of white linen, the Mother, with funky DJ spinning tunes, quiet environment surrounding the merger, a great menu and fire dancers, to neighboring countries Zenz, which offers live concerts, movies on the beach and a barbecue on Sunday. So all this is the famous Blue Parrot nightclub Coco Bongo.

Playa Del Carmen has something unique to offer much more than those who seek bar included in the pool, but hotel chains as the largest RIU, Iberostar and Occidental.

A 18-hole golf course always seems to be within walking distance or a short taxi ride away.

The next stop is the South Park Xcaret water with a show nightlife. Continue and you will see signs for Paamul, now a small RV park and camp beach run on generators, also has a small hotel. Well worth a stop, you can cool the pool or take a swim in the ocean After a bite to eat.

Just south is the gated community and marina of Puerto Aventuras, Dolphin Discovery with the heart, surrounded restaurants and bars.

TRIPS provides a catamaran, boat tours, paragliding and fishing is a great place to stop activities. Enjoy All boats in the marina, some can be rented for fishing trips, some private, place to visit on the Riviera Maya.

Just a little further down the east coast and what some say are the most beautiful beaches in the south of the Riviera Maya Xpu-Ha Bay. stuffed with little white sand stretches people with beach clubs of the stature of the sky, with a menu of seafood, Mediterranean, and beds, massage therapists and shade the beach. You may have found a paradise.

Near the coast you arrive in Akumal, famous for its turtle sanctuary. In the summer months, you can have the chance to visit Half Moon Bay area to see the turtles lay their eggs on land and.

In August, you can take a boat trip or swimming of the earth and see these magnificent creatures inches away from you.

Diving in Akumal is unmatched. The reef is home to a beautiful parrot fish, turtles and puffer fish and the beach is small and busy, a great stop for agricultural water in a day with many bars and restaurants that will not disappointed.

Our last stop on the Riviera Maya Tulum Main is the only Mayan city built on the beach with the impressive ruins and is home some of the most beautiful beaches.

First British newspapers, the Daily Mail, including Tulum in its 10 beaches in 2009, calling it a "trial hearing, a temple on the cliffs above the Caribbean Sea. "

The citadel famous Mayan ruins on the east coast has nothing lost its splendor.

Travel + Leisure magazine has given Tulum Wellness Retreat & Spa Spa in its second survey of the universe better destination in September 2009. Tulum is a great place to stay in the history, culture, beach clubs and spas.

We reached the final the Riviera Maya in Acre 1.5 million (0.6 million hecatre) Sian Ka'an, a national park and World Heritage Site by UNESCO, with jungle walks, mangroves and lagoons unexcavated ruins and 22 miles (35km) peninsula Boca Palia.

A small entrance fee allows you to explore this paradise wild. It serves as a model of sustainable development in sensitive areas of tropical ecosystems. Revenues generated through travel, fishing, beautiful rooms and various field activities is used to fund conservation programs and education within the Biosphere Reserve of Sian Ka'an.

The center works with environmentally friendly technology, including systems of wetland management of waste, rainwater collection, solar and wind. Also runs educational programs and biological research.
