Is is bad to take two iron pills ?
I take one iron pill everyday and its supposed to help me with my low energy but I still am so tired, the package says you can take 1 or 2 so should I take 2?
I have been taking them for two years and I had a blood test at the doctors thats how they knew I had to take them
Low energy levels,feeling tired.Your blood test must have shown low hemoglobin level,Hb.carries oxygen to all body tissues and gives desired energy.To raise it the doctor has priscribed iron pill,it is still better if you take a combination product of iron+vit.B12+folic acid which together form the principal of hematanics for improved Hb.levels insted of taking 2 iron pills which may cause loose motions or constipation.If your Hb level has still not reached 12 (ideally 14) even after taking it for 2 years,don’t rule out other factors like excessive blood loss or worm infestation etc.Taking additional iron is not much helpful if your intake of diet is poor.
To boost iron,eat lean red meat,oil rich fish,bread,green leafy vegetables,peas,lentils,beans,dried fruit,eggs and fortified breakfast cereals.If you don’t want to gain weight,avoid fatty diets and opt for a reduced calorie,balanced diet that includes protein -rich foods that include meat,fish eggs,and low fat dairy products.Shun junk food,fatty and extreme diets which are low in nutrients.Soon you will be bubbling with energy.
