Woodworm Treatment For Your House

If you’ve ever noticed many small holes in timber around your house, you are most likely in need of woodworm treatment. These holes stem from beetle larvae that are feed on the timber when they are hatched. When the larvae have matured to adult beetles, the beetles issue from the woodworm holes to pal. This is the cycle of life of woodworm beetles. There are a few species of beetles that cause woodworm and the woodworm treatment to be applied is dependent upon the kind of species causing the damage.
The Common Furniture Beetle is the commonest species of beetle that causes woodworm. This species makes small round holes on the surface of timber. The dust that is left in the dust on account of the dull of the larvae is gritty. The pellets of wood dust are lemon shaped. The most highly effective and pleasing woodworm treatment for the Common Furniture Beetle is the applying of Boron Ultra 12. This is a water based biostat. It is totally safe to all other insects and animals. It is used to treat the wood by applying it employing a brush. At least two coats are applied. Boron Ultra 12 soaks into the timber easily and does not give off an odour or vapour. It is a permanent sort of woodworm treatment.
The House Longhorn Beetle happens in typically in roof timbers. This beetle mainly attacks softwood species as they seek the sapwood of the timber. Structural damage caused by this beetle is severe as the holes and the tunnels made by these beetles are much bigger than that of the Common Furniture Beetle. Woodworm treatment of this pest shouldn’t be attempted by the owner. A pro wood treatment company should be told for further advice.
The Death Watch Beetle commonly attacks hardwoods such as oak. However, the beetles may move over to softwoods after attacking and destroying hardwoods. These beetles occur in damp conditions and are rather more common in areas where there is a fungal infection of the wood such as a ‘wet rot’. These conditions help the beetle to develop more speedily. Woodworm treatment for this beetle is more complex than the Common Furniture Beetle as a result of the harsh structural damage and the 10 year life cycle of the beetles. Treatment will involve identification of any hollow areas employing a hammer. Holes are drilled into the timber and Boron Ultra Paste is placed within the holes. This inspection should be done each year.
